Jungle Camping at Bardia National Park
This is often one of the highlights of a visit to Bardia. We take you several km away from our camp and set up camp on an island in the Karnali river close to some of the crossing points used by the larger mammals as they move around the area.
It is often possible to buy fish for our evening meal from some of the local nomadic fishermen as they head towards their tents in the late afternoon.
We cook just as it starts to get dark and make sure that we have a large stack of fire wood that we can burn if wild elephants come to investigate our camp during the night.
One of our staff stays on guard for most of the night and in the morning we wake up to watch the animals crossing the river.
We can rent tents, sleeping bags and mattresses although if you have your own that is easier and a little cheaper.
Costs are about 3000R for a two day/one night trip with all meals included, payment to the local village for camping on the island and a guide as well as camp guard and cook.
